South Carolina

South Carolina is one of the 50 states of the United States. It is located in the southeast of the country. South Carolina was one of the Thirteen Colonies that declared independence from the United Kingdom in 1776. In the American Civil War, it became the first state in the Southern states to leave the United States.

The name of the province is King of England II. It comes from Charles (the Latin word for Charles: Carolus). The population of the province is estimated at 4.321.249 in 2005. South Carolina is ranked lower in terms of national income than other states. Among the most important income sources are tobacco, animal husbandry, textile, chemical materials, machinery and tourism.
